Oban is one of Scotland's smallest distilleries, yet its single malt is known worldwide. Running just two small stills with deliberately interrupted production, the distillery preserves its spirit's light, fruity, and maritime character. This Distillers Edition elevates that foundation through a second maturation in Spanish Montilla Fino casks—vessels that once held fortified wine. The Montilla Fino finish adds considerable complexity: more fruit, deeper flavour layers, and an even clearer maritime personality. The nose reveals sea air, grapes, orange, and a subtle wisp of smoke. On the palate, the whisky shows a soft, malty core wrapped in fruity notes with a saline edge that persists through the finish. The finish surprises with coffee, oak, and an almost biscuit-like maltiness that gently fades.
