Springbank has been family-owned since its founding in 1828, making it one of Scotland's most independent distilleries. Still operated by J & A Mitchell & Company, it remains a survivor in Campbeltown's once-thriving whisky region. This 30-year-old expression is a vatting of 85% ex-bourbon casks and 15% ex-sherry casks, a composition that balances oak maturity with wine-cask complexity. After three decades, the whisky reveals the mellow, multi-layered character that defines mature Springbank. The nose opens with honey and ripe peaches, honeycomb, and creamy chocolate notes. On the palate, an oily texture carries salted-dough and white-pepper notes alongside maritime minerality—hallmarks of Campbeltown's coastal influence. Orchard fruits, red berries, and zesty citrus provide freshness and vibrancy that prevent the whisky from becoming heavy.
