About
Glen Elgin is a light, fruity single malt from Speyside, produced in the town of Elgin itself. Founded in 1898 by William Simpson, a former manager at Glenfarclas, and banker James Carle, the distillery takes its name from the valley in which it sits — 'Glen' meaning dale in Scots Gaelic, a naming convention shared by many Speyside producers. This seven-year-old expression reflects Glen Elgin's distinctive production method: clear wort, long fermentation, and slow distillation across six copper stills. The result is a whisky defined by lush fruitiness and floral character, hallmarks of the house. On the nose, white and yellow fruits emerge — apple, pear, peach — alongside honey and delicate floral notes. The palate is soft and rounded, unfolding with citrus, orchard fruits, and a pleasant waxy texture. The finish is elegant, lingering with fruity acidity and light oak spice.
