The Whisky Agency and East Village Whisky Company marked their shared anniversary in 2025 with two exceptional cask selections. This Auchentoshan from 1999 demonstrates what the Lowland distillery can achieve with patient maturation and careful bottling — a rare departure from its typical house style. Only 120 bottles at 50.6% ABV. The nose opens with abundant yellow fruits: peach, mango, and lime, alongside honey and tropical fruit syrup. Beneath lies a subtle layer of beehive notes, sunflower oil, and powdered sugar. This is markedly more interesting than standard Auchentoshan bottlings. On the palate, it turns zestier: tangerine and mango, followed by candied grapefruit with light ginger and a fine green bitterness reminiscent of gin botanicals. Green malt and a pinch of salt add depth. The long finish mirrors the nose—a vanilla-laden fruit salad anchored by that same pleasant bitterness that keeps the whole composition in check.
