About
Millstone is the Dutch answer to Scottish single malt whisky, born from the craft heritage of the Van Zuidam family. Fred van Zuidam founded the distillery in 1976 with liqueurs and genevers; his son Patrick later pursued a long-held ambition to create a Dutch single malt in the Scottish tradition. The first experimental casks were filled in 1996, with the inaugural commercial release arriving in 2007. This Dutch Single Malt is matured in American oak, providing a soft, approachable foundation. The profile balances fruity character with a full, creamy texture. On the nose, vanilla, caramel and salted butter emerge, supported by lightly toasted bread. The palate is fuller than the nose suggests, with a malty core that develops as you drink. The finish is gentle and pleasant, without harsh edges.
