Four Roses Super Premium is a bourbon made exclusively for the Japanese market — a rare departure from the brand's standard lineup. Rather than a single recipe, this is a blend of all ten proprietary Four Roses recipes, each combining two mash bills with five distinct yeast strains. The result is a whisky that feels lighter and more floral than typical American bourbons. Matured in virgin oak, it gains subtle wood structure without the heaviness of refill casks, allowing its floral and fruity character to take centre stage. This is a deliberate choice that sidesteps the vanilla-and-caramel template most bourbons follow. On the nose, delicate rose and lavender emerge alongside apple, pear, and lemon peel. The palate brings woody vanilla and a light, elegant touch, while the finish turns dry and peppery with earthy undertones that linger. The overall profile is restrained and refined — more in line with Japanese whisky sensibilities than Kentucky convention.
