Decadent Drinks released this Laphroaig as part of their monthly selection: a 10-year-old Islay single malt matured in first-fill cask, bottled at 52% ABV. This is one of the few independent bottlings where Laphroaig is explicitly matured in first-fill wood, delivering a more intense, direct profile than the standard expressions. The first-fill cask brings extra wood character and texture. Laphroaig is known for its distinctive smoky, medicinal intensity, and this bottling preserves that characteristic Islay identity completely. The nose displays the classic Laphroaig profile: smoky and earthy, with underlying fruit tones and a maritime edge. The palate is full and robust, with the expected peatiness but also sweet notes of caramel and honey. The finish is long and dry, with a persistent smoky aftertaste.
