Found North is the creation of two brothers who have transformed Canadian whisky from a niche category into a world-class spirit. Season 6 – Madeira Finish is a K&L Wines exclusive: a single barrel, cask strength release where 50% of the base is 12-year-old stock, but over 30% comprises whiskies older than 20 years. This blend was aged separately and then finished in Madeira casks. The mash bill—49% rye, 48% corn, 3% malted barley—defies Canadian whisky convention. Rather than leaning heavily on one grain, this bottling balances aromatic and palate-driven elements. The color is a warm russet. The nose explodes with baked orchard fruit, exotic spice, tense earthy oak, candied apricot, and caramel candies. With air, it opens to sweet peach tea, fig jam, and pink peppercorn. On the palate it's dusty and old-school—full of rye spice and warehouse floor earth—before revealing layers of sweet oak and candied corn. A whisky that fits no box and needs none.
