The Dunvegan springs from a partnership between Kingsbarns and the storied Dunvegan Hotel in St Andrews—long known as the '19th hole' where golfers from every level, from amateurs to major champions, have retreated after their rounds. The hotel welcomed figures such as Clint Eastwood, Bill Murray, Tiger Woods, and Arnold Palmer. This single cask release, drawn from an Oloroso American oak sherry butt, follows the rapid sellout of the inaugural Caddie's Dream in the same golf-inspired series. The 750 bottles were reduced to 46%, unusual for a single cask, suggesting careful blending for consistency despite the assertive Oloroso influence. This represents one of Kingsbarns' first releases with an age statement—a milestone for the young Fife distillery. On the nose: fudge and butterscotch lead, with citrus notes of lemon drizzle and orange pith. The palate brings preserved orange, burnt caramel, and candied peel, cut through with grassy bitterness and wood spices. The finish is medium, with a cooling mint quality that fades back to butterscotch and toffee.
