21 Years Re/Define
About
Bruichladdich's 21 Years Re/Define exemplifies the distillery's distinctive commitment to terroir and craftsmanship. Matured exclusively on Islay for over two decades in a marriage of bourbon (80%) and sherry casks (20% Oloroso and PX), this single malt showcases the complexity that only time can deliver. Crafted from 100% Scottish barley, it represents the culmination of Bruichladdich's renaissance philosophy since 2001. The nose reveals layers of dried apricots, berries, and plums with toasty, burnished notes. Almond paste and custard provide sherried elegance, while the distillery's signature delicate lactic character shines through. On the palate, a viscous, almost oily texture carries hints of nutmeg and fennel seeds, leading to vibrant, ripe fruits and notes of beeswax, raisin bread, and black tea. The medium-to-long finish brings coconut shavings, oak, and orange pith, delivering a distinctly individual and characterful dram.
