About

Compass Box created this special blended malt to celebrate La Maison du Whisky's 65th anniversary, the legendary French whisky retailer. John Glaser and his team brought together four Scottish single malts: Old Pulteney from the Highlands, Miltonduff from Speyside, and two Islay malts, Caol Ila and Ardbeg. The component whiskies are aged 17 and 26 years respectively, delivering a full-bodied, smoky character. The blend draws from different Scottish regions with intention. Old Pulteney contributes fruity, maritime freshness; Miltonduff adds subtle sweetness and malt structure; the two Islay malts bring their signature smoke and intensity. This is no casual mix, but a deliberate composition that creates tension and depth across the palate. On the nose, Ethereal presents honey, citrus, and vanilla with maritime undertones. The palate develops tropical fruit, toffee, and caramel, with the peat from Ardbeg and Caol Ila well-integrated rather than overwhelming. The finish is long and creamy, fading with vanilla, toffee, and a gentle wisp of smoke.
