About
Lagavulin 21 Years represents the pinnacle of Islay's peaty tradition, with over two decades of maturation bringing remarkable complexity and depth. This distinguished single malt embodies the distillery's signature smoky, maritime character while developing the sophisticated layers that only extended aging can provide. The nose reveals dark, boggy peat alongside leather and oily musk, with hints of iodine and pepper weaving through the composition. On the palate, bold peaty smoke dominates, complemented by toffee sweetness, minerally salt, and the distinctive smoked kipper character Lagavulin is renowned for. Subtle notes of beef stock and burnt cinders add savory complexity. The finish is long and lingering, as the smoke and peat gradually fade with graceful persistence. Best enjoyed neat or with a single large ice cube to gradually unlock its rich layers, this is a whisky for contemplative moments.
