The Cuvée 1.1 is a vibrant and characterful Irish Single Malt from Waterford Distillery, located in South East Ireland. This four-year-old expression showcases the distillery's innovative approach, matured across a diverse range of casks including US first fill bourbon, virgin American oak, and French oak, with a finishing touch from Vin Doux Naturel. The result is an oily, well-textured whisky that punches above its age. On the nose, freshly cut wood and hay mingle with delicate floral notes reminiscent of linden blossom. The palate reveals bright fruit—fresh apple and marmalade—alongside warming spice with ginger and clove, complemented by toasted grain and a subtle peppery edge. The finish is long and gently acidic, with lingering warmth and oak influence. Remarkably, the 50% ABV is so well integrated that its strength barely intrudes, allowing the whisky's complexity to shine through.
