About
Glen Scotia's 7 Year Old Ruby Port Finish stands as a remarkable addition to the Campbeltown range, initially matured in ex-bourbon casks before a six-month finishing period in first-fill ex-Ruby Port casks. Bottled at cask strength for the Campbeltown Malts Festival, this experimental release showcases Glen Scotia's ability to harmonise the distillery's characteristic peat with the rich, fruity influence of Port maturation. The result is a sophisticated whisky that challenges convention while maintaining impeccable balance and complexity. The nose is immediately captivating, revealing creamy vanilla fudge, succulent red fruits, and a potent smoke that lingers subtly in the background. On the palate, the whisky shifts toward a less sweet, more herbaceous character, with prominent notes of agave, grapefruit and lime juice layered alongside the distillery's signature peat. The finish is lengthy and rewarding, delivering ashy Campbeltown smoke, lingering Port fruit sweetness, and a bittersweet citrus intensity reminiscent of Mezcal.
