Teapot Dram
The Sassenach is actor Sam Heughan's blended Scotch whisky venture, inspired by his role in the television series Outlander. The name draws from the affectionate term used in the show for his character's wife, Claire. This is a serious craft project—Heughan partnered with experienced blenders to create a whisky reflecting Scotland and the Highland spirit, not a celebrity vanity release.
The blend combines malt and grain whiskies, finished in European sherry oak after initial maturation in traditional whisky casks. This dual wood approach marries vanilla and spice from the first phase with fruity and honeyed notes from the sherry finish.
On the nose, fresh apricot and orange emerge, with caramel and cinnamon building slowly. The palate delivers waves of honey and vanilla fudge, anchored by oak tannins and a subtle peppery edge. The finish settles on honey and almond, with an almost smoky undertone that reinforces its Highland character.
