2006 Distillery Exclusive Single Cask Oloroso
Tomatin was established in 1897 at 315 metres elevation in the Scottish Highlands, strategically positioned where the Highland Railway would pass. In 1986, it made history as the first Scottish distillery to come under Japanese ownership (Takara Shuzo), a partnership that continues today.
This 14-year-old is matured in bourbon casks before finishing in ex-Tawny Port casks that previously held port for approximately 50 years. The result is a whisky that gains wine-like sweetness and depth without becoming heavy or cloying.
On the nose, red berries, grapes and vanilla lead, with oak and white pepper in support. The palate delivers dark chocolate, strawberry, creamy port character and light spice, balanced by a light body that keeps everything elegant. Oak rounds the finish with a savoury, mineral edge—a measured conclusion rather than an overpowering one.
