Tomatin
The name Tomatin derives from Scottish Gaelic 'Tom Aitinn'—hill of the juniper. Founded in 1897 by local entrepreneur John MacDougall, the distillery seized an opportunity when the Highland Railway was routed through the area. At its peak, Tomatin was Scotland's largest malt distillery, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Today, owned by Takara Shuzo, it remains a significant producer of single malt and blended whiskies.
This cask strength bottling is non-age-statement and bottled at 57.5% ABV—an unfiltered, full-strength expression that reveals the distillery's character without compromise. The nose balances malt, fruit and soft spice, with both dry and tropical fruit notes weaving through.
On the palate, a malty, biscuity foundation emerges, followed by sweetness of vanilla and honey. The finish is rich and lingering, with peppery spice that the alcohol supports without harshness.
