Tamdhu was founded in 1897 by a group of entrepreneurs led by the legendary William Grant, united by a singular ambition: to create the finest whisky in the world. The distillery distinguishes itself through an unwavering philosophy—100% sherry cask maturation from start to finish. This commitment to sherry-only aging makes Tamdhu one of Scotland's most focused and quietly ambitious single-malt producers.
This 20-year-old single cask has matured entirely in sherry casks sourced from the bodegas of Jerez, Spain. Two decades in wood have bestowed a deep, rich colour and a full-bodied character that speaks to Tamdhu's no-compromise approach. This is sherry maturation as the distillery intends it.
On the palate, creamy and dense flavours emerge—dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, and ripe stone fruit—underpinned by a gentle oak structure. The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of prune and bitter chocolate.
