Black Bush emerged when customers began asking for the whiskey with the black label—a name born from bar-room demand rather than boardroom planning. It is a blend of 80% malt whiskey and 20% grain, with the malt aged at least eight years in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks. This composition gives Black Bush its defining character: the sherry delivers deep fruit and full body, while Bushmills' signature triple distillation ensures smoothness and refinement.
The nose presents robust malt with sweet, floral undertones. The palate opens with ripe fruit—apple, pear, blackberry, honey—anchored by assertive malt. The finish lingers warm and persistent, malt and sherry sweetness fading slowly.
