Aberfeldy traces its lineage to John Dewar, born in a Perthshire croft in 1805, who went on to establish a spirits merchant house in Perth in 1846. The distillery itself was built in 1896 to architect Charles Cree Doig's design—recognizable by its signature pagoda roof. The 21 Years Old stands as the distillery's flagship, the result of two decades' maturation across a trio of cask types: ex-bourbon, sherry, and re-charred vessels.

This cask marriage yields considerable complexity. The nose reveals heather honey and vanilla, layered with dried fruits and toasted coconut, all anchored by grassy and aged oak notes. The palate arrives full and voluminous, carrying orange character and heather, with wood polish evident but not dominating. The finish stretches long, delicately smoky, supple and dry.
