Famous Grouse is a classic Scottish blended whisky with roots stretching back to 1807, when grocer John Brown established his business in Perth. His daughter Margaret married Matthew Gloag, whose family laid the foundation for what became The Famous Grouse in 1896. The name honours the red grouse that roams the Scottish Highlands—a fitting symbol for a whisky that has been Scotland's favourite blend for over four decades.
Ruby Cask is part of Famous Grouse's Cask Series, which showcases the core blend finished in different cask types. This expression receives an additional maturation period in port-seasoned oak, layering the familiar blend with rich, fruity character.
On the nose, toffee and vanilla emerge alongside raisins and sultanas, with a malty foundation. The palate is surprisingly full-bodied, delivering honey, caramel, and fruitcake sweetness balanced by soft spice. The finish is long and gentle, with warming spice notes that linger softly.
