12 Year Old Amontillado Sherry Cask Finish
About
Glenfiddich was built by hand in 1887 by William Grant in Dufftown—a rare story of family enterprise that grew into a global leader. The name means 'valley of the deer', a reference that lives on in the brand's stag symbol. This 12-year-old expression builds on Glenfiddich's classic signature, but gains distinctive character from finishing in rare Amontillado sherry casks. After initial maturation in oak, the whisky is finished in Amontillado casks, which impart nutty depth and dried fruit to the foundation of apple, pear, and honey. The result is a fuller, more rounded profile without sherry overwhelming the spirit's natural character. On the nose: caramel and honey with subtle earth and plum richness. The palate brings poached pears, fig marmalade, and gentle spice—apple and pear remain present, joined by toffee and vanilla. The finish is smooth and mellow, with oak spice and a whisper of salt.
