Royal Brackla earns its name with distinction: in 1835, it became the first Scotch distillery in history to receive a Royal Warrant, granted by King William IV. This honour, bestowed on Captain William Fraser's distillery on the Cawdor Estate, secured its place as 'The King's Own Whisky'.
The 18 Years is matured in a blend of American oak and sherry casks, then finished in Palo Cortado — a rare sherry style that begins as a Fino but oxidizes like an Oloroso. This choice adds complexity without overwhelming the whisky's malty foundation.
On the nose, golden hues give way to vanilla, orange zest, and grain. The palate reveals ripe dried fruits, spice, and an oily, full-bodied texture, with a long, satisfying finish that justifies eighteen years of patience.
