Sherry Cask
Dewar's 15 Years carries the epithet 'The Monarch'—named after Edwin Landseer's celebrated 1851 oil painting. The title echoes John Dewar's own ambition: in 1846, he began blending whisky in Perth with such confidence that he signed his name to the label, a bold move when blending was still unproven. He became one of the earliest pioneers of Blended Scotch, working in the wake of the Gladstone Spirit Act that had opened new possibilities for the category.
This blend marries malt and grain whiskies, each matured for at least 15 years in ex-bourbon and sherry casks. That dual maturation creates a whisky of quiet sophistication—neither heavy nor austere.
On the nose, it presents as fresh and bright, with orchard fruit, citrus, and honey. The palate is smooth and oily, delivering honeyed notes, toffee, vanilla, and a hint of floral spice. The finish is short and dry, fading to pepper and a touch of fruity sweetness. This is a whisky that rewards attention without demanding it.
