Classic Cut Limited 2020 Edition

Polly Logan, Macallan's whisky maker, crafted this 2020 edition with the freedom to experiment across cask types. The result: a marriage of European sherry-seasoned oak and American ex-bourbon casks, bottled at 55% ABV without dilution. This is not a traditional sherry-forward Macallan, but an exploration of balance between two distinct oak influences.

The nose opens with bright citrus—candied orange peel and marmalade—layered with vanilla and honey. Sweet raisins and fresh oak follow, touched by thyme. On the palate, it is full and honeyed, with orange peel providing definition. Cocoa, toffee, and ginger warmth emerge, building structure. The finish is measured, oak receding gradually.

Classic Cut demands attention at cask strength, but rewards it with a complexity that surprises in a limited annual release.
