Dewar's Double Aged
Dewar's was founded in 1846 by John Dewar in Perth, Scotland, as one of the earliest pioneers of blended Scotch whisky. The 'Double Aged' designation refers to Dewar's signature double-ageing process — a technique the brand has employed for generations to achieve extra smoothness and complexity. This 15-year-old blend marries around 40 different single malts and grains, matured in a combination of refill casks and first-fill bourbon casks, resulting in a layered, well-balanced dram.
The nose opens with honey and citrus fruit, followed by subtle malty sweetness and vanilla. On the palate, a soft, well-structured whisky emerges, revealing notes of butter, caramel, and gentle spice, interspersed with fruity accents. The finish is elegant and lingering, with minimal alcohol burn.
This is a blend that proves blending expertise — not distillery identity — can be the heart of Scotch whisky. For those seeking refinement without pretension.
