Writers Tears Cask Strength

Writers' Tears grew from Bernard Walsh's vision to craft world-class Irish whiskey. Since 1999, Walsh Whiskey—established by Bernard and his wife Rosemary—has championed the revival of Irish whiskey as a family enterprise. The brand's name honours the deep historical ties between Irish writers and whiskey, a spirit that fueled the creativity of the nation's literary giants.

This cask strength expression blends single pot still and single malt whiskeys, both matured in first fill American oak. There is no grain whiskey component—only barley—which contributes to its full, waxy richness and depth.

On the nose, vanilla and toasted oak lead, with hints of caramel sweetness. The palate builds with notes of apple, pecan, and dark chocolate, layered with malt and a thread of spice. The finish is powerful yet refined, drying gradually with lingering oak and a touch of cocoa.
