Triple Cask Smooth

A Song of Ice Game of Thrones
Queen Margot
Queen Margot takes its name from Margaret de Valois, the 16th-century Queen of France and first wife of Henry IV — an unexpectedly literary choice for a budget supermarket blend. Produced by Clydesdale Scotch Whisky Co. in Glasgow, this 8-year-old blended Scotch made headlines when it won the World Whiskies Award for best blended whisky under 8 years, a recognition that lent it surprising credibility despite its modest price point.
The nose opens with striking tropical notes: vanilla, coconut, and banana lead, underpinned by a malty base. The palate is creamy and full-bodied, with citrus cutting through and a gentle spice — black pepper and chilli add bite without harsh alcohol burn. The finish turns sweet and bitter in tandem, with pepper and floral notes lingering.
This is an unpretentious blend: young, accessible, and entirely drinkable on its own terms — proof that supermarket whisky need not disappoint.
