About
Staoisha is Bunnahabhain's heavily peated expression — a striking counterpoint to the distillery's better-known unpeated style. The name honours a nearby loch and Islay's Gaelic heritage. This Finn Thomson independent bottling, drawn from cask 968, showcases the full character of this unconventional Islay whisky without compromise. Matured ten years in a bourbon barrel and bottled at cask strength (56.2% ABV), non-chill filtered. This is peaty whisky unfiltered and uncompromised. The nose reveals salty smoke with briny undertones, anchoring the island character firmly. The palate follows with orchard red fruit, vanilla cream, and sweet ash — a surprising sweetness cutting through the smoke. The finish is long and lingering, with soft smoke that gradually fades.
