Staoisha is Bunnahabhain's peated expression — a name rooted in Scottish Gaelic for Islay itself. This particular bottling is one of just 290 bottles, released by North Star Spirits from a refill hogshead in February 2025, over eleven years after distillation in October 2013. The nose presents robust peat smoke with a rubbery edge, layered with aromatic white spices and citrus. On the palate, the peat transforms into charcoal, warm and intense, with iodine and samphire reinforcing Islay's maritime character. The finish is warming and sustained, with tropical sweetness cutting through the raw peatiness. At 55.7% ABV, natural colour and non-chill-filtered, this bottling reveals the full signature of both distillation and maturation. A whisky for those who embrace uncompromising Islay intensity.
