2014 Ex-Caroni Rum Cask

Amrut established itself as the pioneer of Indian whisky, and this ex-Caroni rum cask release underscores that ambition. Caroni, the legendary Trinidad rum distillery that closed in 1998, left behind vats now highly prized by distillers worldwide. Amrut deliberately chose to mature spirit in these retired rum casks—an unconventional move that reflects the brand's identity as an innovator unafraid to chart its own course.

Matured at 900 metres altitude in Bangalore under tropical conditions, where spirit ages roughly 3.5 times faster than in Scotland, this six-year-old single malt has developed intense character. Bottled at cask strength (60% ABV) with no chill-filtration, it retains its full profile undiluted.

The nose marries the rum cask's sweet legacy with orchard fruit and earthy forest-floor notes. On the palate, full body carries layers of smoke, sweetness, spice, and chocolate—genuinely multi-faceted. The finish holds medium length, with warm alcohol anchoring the smoky and fruited impressions.
