The Perpetual Collection represents Glenfiddich's most distinctive innovation: a solera vat that is never fully emptied. Each release of Vat 04 therefore contains whisky in perpetual motion, continuously blended with fresh 18-year-old spirit. It is a literal embodiment of William Grant's founding vision—to create a whisky that never sits still.
After 18 years in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, the spirit undergoes further transformation within the vat itself. The interplay of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry maturation yields a rounded, fruit-forward character balanced by vanilla, oak, and the subtle spice and dryness that sherry cask imparts.
The whisky presents a rich bronze hue. On the nose, ripe orchard fruit—apple and pear—mingles with vibrant vanilla and gentle oak. The palate is warm and velvety, revealing candied fruit and toffee alongside cinnamon and a dry sherry influence. The finish is long and satisfying, oak tannins persisting pleasantly throughout.
