Double Cask

3.8 out of 5 (1 review)

Founded in 1897 by Inverness businessmen, Tomatin takes its name from the Gaelic 'Hill of the Juniper Bush'. The Double Cask is a recent addition to the core range, combining maturation in two distinct cask types to achieve a balanced Highland single malt.

This 13-year-old whisky spends time in both bourbon and sherry casks, marrying the vanilla and caramel notes of ex-bourbon wood with the rich, dried-fruit character of sherry maturation. The result is approachable yet layered—neither cask dominates, but instead they complement one another.

On the nose, toffee and milk chocolate lead, with hints of dark chocolate and dried fruit beneath. The palate opens with creamy, sweet notes—maple and pecan pie—before a soft spice from the sherry cask emerges. The finish is warm and lingering, with oak and caramel providing gentle structure without harshness.
