The One Fine

The Lakes Distillery, founded in 2011 by Paul Currie within a restored Victorian model farm near the English border, created The One Fine as part of a collection exploring innovative cask maturation. This blended whisky marries selected grain and single malt scotches from Speyside and Islay with The Lakes' own English single malt, finished for a full year in first fill Tawny port casks to build richness and depth.

The blend's composition—grain and malt scotches from two classic Scottish regions, anchored by The Lakes' house spirit—gives it distinct character. The port cask finish layers in complexity without overwhelming the blend's balance.

On the nose: orchard fruits, butterscotch, and a whisper of smoke. The palate opens with vanilla custard, honeyed stone fruits, and a gentle spice. The finish is warm and lingering, with caramel and candied apple fading slowly.
