Sweet Peat marks Lagavulin's first new permanent expression in nine years—a deliberate exploration of what peat can become when balance takes the lead. Rather than the full, iodine-rich intensity Islay is known for, this 11-year-old single malt pursues a subtler conversation between smoke and sweetness.

Matured exclusively in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks, Sweet Peat draws its sweetness entirely from wood: vanilla, honey, and toffee form the core, while a gentle, aromatic smoke—more bonfire than medicinal—plays at the edges. The nose opens with confectionery notes, plums, and orchard fruits; the palate builds fudge, marshmallow, and lightly floral incense, with a cookfire-like smoke gradually emerging. The finish lingers long and poised, aromatic smoke drifting away.

This is a Lagavulin that doesn't seek to dominate but to invite—ideal for those exploring peat without being overwhelmed, or as a refined base for an old-fashioned.
