This 22-year-old Orkney single malt was distilled in 2002 and matured entirely in an ex-sherry butt before bottling at natural cask strength in 2024. Carn Mor's 'Celebration of the Cask' series honours exceptional casks from their archive — this one justifies the accolade, delivering a fully mature, layered dram that showcases the rewards of long maturation in sherry oak.
The nose opens gently with citrus peel and heather honey, supported by soft peat smoke and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, dried stone fruits — apricot and cherry — unfold alongside butterscotch, pepper, and a pronounced mineral, briny character. The oak is present but measured. The finish lingers with sweetness and smoke intertwined, a waxy texture, and enduring spice notes.
