About
Delos reimagines Asyla, a cornerstone blend from Compass Box's core range (2001–2018) that was retired to make way for new creations. With this release, the team has captured Asyla's original vibrancy and soothing sweetness by turning to older, rarefied stocks. The name draws from the ancient Greek island of Delos—a sanctuary of classical beauty, scattered with mosaics and ruined temples—reflecting a whisky built from antique, carefully selected components. The blend unites malt whiskies from Glen Elgin, Imperial, and Miltonduff with around 17% grain whisky from Cameronbridge, all matured in first-fill American oak. This composition delivers the enticing exotic fruit and vanilla character of the malts while the grain whisky preserves the delicate, silky mouthfeel that defined Asyla. On the nose, Delos unfolds as soft waves of ripe pear, pineapple, and orange oil, layered with vanilla cream. The palate is richer than its elegance suggests—oily and full-bodied, with abundant vanilla and peach notes grounded by active bourbon wood spice. The finish stretches long, carrying vanilla and white chocolate alongside persistent stone fruit sweetness.
