Ex-Sherry Butts 20th Anniversary Cask Series

To mark its 20th anniversary in 2025, Kilchoman released a curated series: four vatting of five hand-selected casks each, chosen by founder Anthony Wills. This 15-year-old expression was matured in Oloroso sherry butts and stands as the oldest sherry bottling in the anniversary range.

Maturing Islay spirit in sherry casks creates an unusual interplay. Dark fruit and baking spices meet the island's characteristic salty, smoky backbone. At 52.7% ABV, the whisky carries enough weight for both influences to coexist—the sherry doesn't mask the peat, and the peat doesn't overwhelm the fruit.

This is Kilchoman at its most accomplished: not merely a milestone release, but evidence that a distillery only two decades old can already produce whisky that stands alongside much longer-established names.
