Poit Dhubh

Velvet Fig
Loch + Glen Scotia Double Cask
Glen Scotia, one of only three surviving distilleries in Campbeltown since 1832, is known for its subtly maritime character. The Double Cask is an approachable entry point into the core range: first matured in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The result is a whisky that feels like a bridge between two worlds — sweet and fruity on the nose, yet with a salty coastal edge that reflects Campbeltown's seaside location.
On the nose, butterscotch, red berries, and citrus emerge. The palate shows a silky body with vanilla, toffee, and spice, followed by oak. The finish brings out the maritime character most clearly: salt, spice, and a pleasant dryness.
This is a whisky that feels bigger than its position in the range suggests. Not the most complex Campbeltown offering, but honest and flavourful — ideal for those discovering Glen Scotia for the first time.
