Kavalan was established in 2005 by Tian-Tsai Lee, head of the King Car Group, as Taiwan's first whisky distillery. Named after the indigenous Kavalan people who once inhabited the Yilan Plain, the distillery has become a global benchmark for tropical single malt production. The Solist Amontillado is matured exclusively in rare Amontillado sherry casks — among the most prized cask types in whisky production.

Taiwan's intense humidity and the pure meltwater from Snow Mountain shape this whisky's character. At 55.6% ABV, it delivers concentrated flavour without harshness, balancing sherry richness with the dry, mineral edge that Amontillado imparts.
