Uigedail
Glendronach was founded in 1826 by a partnership of farmers led by James Allardice in Forgue, a valley in the Scottish Highlands. The distillery quickly gained favour among London's aristocracy and remains celebrated today as a master of oloroso sherry maturation. This 1996 vintage, aged in a single oloroso sherry butt, embodies that legacy without apology.
The nose reveals thick, weighty aromas: chocolate-coated raisins, dark plums, toffee and balsamic syrup. Walnut and hazelnut add nutty depth. On the palate, the full character emerges—dark chocolate, molasses, dates and figs, followed by clove and ginger spice. The finish is slow and sweet, with lingering dried fruit and aniseed.
This is Glendronach unadorned: purely sherry-driven, mature and substantial, for those who know that true quality takes time.
