Jim Beam took its name in 1943 to honour James B. Beam, who rebuilt the family business after Prohibition ended. The lineage traces back to 1795, when Jacob Beam—a German immigrant—began distilling whiskey in Kentucky. This White Label is the core expression of seven generations of Beam craftsmanship: a straightforward Kentucky bourbon that makes no pretence to mystery.
Made to a secret family recipe built on a high proportion of corn, it matures in fresh oak barrels—the standard for American bourbon. At 40% ABV, it drinks lean and accessible, more spiritous than full-bodied.
On the nose: simple, sweet grain, vanilla, and caramel with a hint of oak. The palate is youthful and slightly harsh, with toffee and corn notes that carry through to a short, dry finish marked by oak tannins. This is unpretentious whiskey—young, direct, and without elaboration.

Jim Beam I didn't have high expectations for this bourbon. At the time around €14.50 per 70cl. However, when pouring, the aroma pleasantly surprised me. It was sweet and somewhat tart. That balance was maintained in the taste as well. Unfortunately, after the first sip, the hope faded. It was sour and soft chewing gum-sweet as a counterbalance, and as an aftertaste bitter in the throat with an iron-like taste, and in a watery manner. After just a few drops of water, the aroma opens up, becomes more subtle and the sweetness comes through. However, in the taste that cloying sweetness with the sourness dominates, and the young-distillate iron taste prevails, without further depth. I shouldn't complain now, it was a cheap bottle and it probably works perfectly for people who want to use this as a mixer with cola or similar. In short, nice to experience and at that price you don't need to skip it.
