Vintersol

Mackmyra was born in 1999 when eight friends, gathered for a ski holiday, asked a simple question: why doesn't Sweden have its own whisky distillery? Vintersol ('Winter Sun') is their answer—a marriage of Nordic ambition and Portuguese wine craft, matured in ex-port casks from Quinta Do Vallado, a producer founded in 1716.

This single malt embodies Swedish character: made from local barley and pristine water, bottled at cask strength (66%) with no dilution needed. The port cask finish adds warmth and fruity depth without heaviness.

On the nose: ginger, cinnamon, and fresh-sawn oak—festive and spiced. The palate opens with citrus fruit (lemon, orange candy), a touch of tobacco leaf, and vanilla sweetness. The finish dries quickly, lingering with sour fruit notes and oak tannins.

This is whisky that reflects the rigour of the Nordic climate and the precision of Swedish craft.
