The GlenAllachie was designed by William Delmé-Evans in 1967, but found its true voice decades later under Billy Walker's stewardship. Walker applied his expertise in cask selection and wood finishing to establish the distillery's signature character, with the 10-year-old Cask Strength becoming the flagship that put GlenAllachie on the map. Batch 10 embodies that philosophy: a spirit awakened not by patient ageing, but by a deliberate blend of Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso, red wine, and virgin American oak casks.
At 58.6% ABV, this whisky commands attention without harshness. The nose reveals vanilla and cinnamon, layered with nutmeg and ginger—deceptively restrained for its strength. On the palate, it turns viscous and velvety, with heavy notes of caramel, malted cereals, and dark chocolate. The finish stretches long and complex, evoking tiramisu and lingering coffee and cocoa.
This is not a carefully balanced dram, but one that embraces its cask influence and alcohol fully. For those unafraid of cask strength and drawn to richness over subtlety.
