Blue Label, Year Of The Pig Limited Edition 2019
In 2019, Johnnie Walker partnered with English illustrator Chrissy Lau—whose design drew inspiration from her Chinese heritage—to create a limited-edition Blue Label celebrating the Year of the Pig. This was part of an annual tradition in which the brand honours the Chinese New Year with exclusive bottlings, each featuring a unique artist's vision.
The blend itself comprises 16 of Scotland's rarest single malts—only one in every 10,000 casks meets the standard for Blue Label. It stands as a tribute to the blending craft of founder John Walker and his son Alexander, who shaped the brand in the early 20th century. The composition draws on Bourbon and Sherry oak maturation, yielding a measured and sophisticated profile.
On the nose, subtle smoke emerges alongside soft stone fruits and a whisper of maritime salt. The palate is restrained and refined, avoiding any harshness—characteristic of a blend that prizes elegance over intensity. The finish lingers gently, with notes of oak and spice.
