Jura distillery was founded in 1810 by members of Clan Campbell and rebuilt between 1960 and 1963 on the remote Isle of Jura in the Inner Hebrides. This 14-year-old single malt is matured in American bourbon casks and finished in American rye casks, a pairing that reflects the island's maritime character.
The nose reveals a soft profile of honey, cereal notes, and a whisper of citrus zest. Apple crumble flavours emerge, followed by the distinctive rye spices and oak. The palate is warm and peppery on arrival, building towards cloves, burnt toast, and cardamom. The mouthfeel is silky and oily, with layers of vanilla and caramelised nuts.
The finish is balanced and soft, with subtle floral notes that fade gently. This whisky embodies Jura's maritime heritage—not heavily peated, but carrying the quiet salinity and depth characteristic of the Islands, making it approachable yet layered.
