Glenfiddich was built by hand in 1887 by William Grant—a rare achievement that kept the distillery in family ownership to this day. In the 1960s, Grant's great-grandson Sandy changed the whisky world by pioneering the promotion of single malt outside Scotland, transforming how the category was perceived globally. This 18-year-old Small Batch Reserve carries that legacy of innovation.
Matured in a combination of Spanish oloroso casks and American bourbon barrels, then married for three months before bottling, the whisky draws character from both woods: vanilla and toast from bourbon oak, depth and dried fruit from sherry. The result is neither purely sherried nor purely bourbon-forward, but a deliberate balance.
On the nose, sweet malt and oak lead, followed by red fruit and a hint of orange peel. The palate brings oak, barley and a measured spice. The finish settles into caramel and oak with dried spices—a conclusion that favours structure over sweetness, reflecting the whisky's maturity.
