Chairman's Choice
In 1872, James Grant Junior—known affectionately as 'The Major'—inherited Glen Grant from his father. At just 25, he began transforming the distillery with characteristic boldness: he designed a new, tall and narrow pot still fitted with an innovative water-cooling system that was ahead of its time. These innovations shaped Glen Grant's character for generations to come.
The 1st Edition stands as a direct expression of that pioneering spirit. Matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon casks and bottled at 50% ABV, this 15-year-old refuses to be constrained by Speyside convention. It is a whisky of substance and presence, not a delicate whisper.
On the nose: honeyed citrus peel, marzipan, and a whisper of sawdust. The palate unfolds with vanilla and oak backbone, supported by white pepper and ginger that add definition without aggression. Nuttier undertones emerge mid-palate. The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of orchard fruit and oak.
