Glenrothes was founded in 1878 by James Stuart and partners in the heart of Speyside, on the banks of the Burn of Rothes. The distillery is known for its elegant, fruity character — a philosophy rooted in the first distillation on 28 December 1879. This 10 Years has matured in oloroso sherry casks, which amplify the distillery's natural fruitiness with rich, nutty layers.
The nose reveals sweet, dried fruits — apricots and raisins — with hints of vanilla and sandalwood warmth. On the palate, a full, creamy texture emerges, initially sweet and pleasant, then developing spice and charred oak character. The finish leaves notes of vanilla, oak, and shortbread.
This is a classic Speyside: medium-bodied, complex without excess, and crafted for those who appreciate the interplay of fruit, nuts, and subtle oak influence. A solid everyday dram.
