A Song of Ice
In 2019, Johnnie Walker partnered with HBO to create a limited-edition whisky inspired by Game of Thrones. The White Walker was specially crafted by Johnnie Walker's master blenders to capture the icy aesthetic of the series—leaning into the name's dark associations rather than away from them.
This blended Scotch draws single malt and grain whiskies from across Scotland. At 41.7% ABV, it's approachable and deliberately designed to be served ice-cold—a serving suggestion that actually shapes the whisky's character rather than mere marketing.
On the nose, the White Walker reveals itself as sweet and smooth: vanilla, caramel, and honey lead, with a whisper of red berries and orchard fruit. The palate brings spice (cloves, pepper, nutmeg) and a hint of charred oak, adding more structure than expected. The finish remains clean and sweet, without much lingering.
This is a whisky that doesn't take itself seriously—and that's precisely its strength. For Game of Thrones nostalgia or simply a pleasant, wintery dram that genuinely tastes better when chilled.
